You can access your email using a variety of clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, iOS and Android. For help with specific clients, see [https://docs.kolab.org/client-configuration/settings.html].

It is recommended to set up your email client using the IMAP protocol, although Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync may also be used. The basic settings are as follows:

* IMAP:
** Server: mail.dlnet.org
** Port: 143
** Security: STARTTLS (alternatively, you can use SSL/TLS with port 993)
** Authentication: use your full email address and password
* SMTP:
** Server: mail.dlnet.org
** Port: 587
** Security: STARTTLS
** Authentication: use your full email address and password

Plex

PLEX organizes your media (video's, music, photo's and more) and streams it to your devices, such as PCs, Smart TVs, tablets and smartphones at the highest possible quality. Its list of features is impressive and it is very user-friendly.

To use PLEX you need an account on [https://www.plex.tv plex.tv]. One account has been created for you when you first received your DLNET.ORG Cloud login. If you don't want an account, you can delete it. See also section [[#Privacy concerns]].

To give other people access to your media, you need a [https://www.plex.tv/plex-pass/ Plex Pass], which is a €5 per month subscription.

== Adding media ==

In your [[ownCloud]] account there is a folder called "media" which is accessible by Plex. Within "media", you should create subfolders that are designated for a particular type of media. After the subfolder has been created you can add in Plex. Plex needs to know if it contains movies, TV shows, music, photos or other videos. It is a good idea to organize the structure of the folder and file names in accordance with the guidelines on the [https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/your-media/ Plex web site].

When you've uploaded some media to your ownCloud, follow the [https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288926-creating-libraries/ instructions here] to add a Library in Plex. After clicking "Browse for Media Folders", click on "media" in the menu on the left or navigate to "/home/media". Then select the correct subfolder.

You can use [[Deluge]] to download media that is accessible to Plex. To do so, make sure your download is store in the correct subfolder under /home/media.

== Quality and CPU usage ==
PLEX is capable of streaming in maximum quality – the quality in which the video file itself is encoded – or it can convert ("transcode") to a lower quality.

You need to set a default quality in every PLEX app that you use (Settings - Quality). '''Please set the default quality to "Maximum"''' and only lower the quality of a stream when your internet connection is not fast enough. Streaming at maximum quality whenever possible greatly reduces server (CPU) load.

Please use Plex apps instead of the web browser version. Since browsers do not support many video formats, the server often needs to transcode in order to play the video in your browser. This is bad for video quality, it is bad for server (CPU) load, and it is bad for the environment.

== Privacy concerns ==
It is possible that the Plex server application and/or the Plex players share information about your media with the company that develops Plex. Since Plex is partly closed-source software, it is hard to find out exactly which information is and isn't shared. == Setup ==
Our main physical server is located in a data center in The Netherlands and is owned by [[User:Lennart]]. Its address is <code>nl1.dlnet.org</code>.

The server runs Linux Containers. Each user has a container with a full Debian installation. The user containers only have an IPv6 address, unless they pay for an IPv4 address. Therefore, all services (HTTP, SMTP and IMAP) are proxied via the container <code>mail.dlnet.org</code>.

<code>mail.dlnet.org</code> also does spam checking for incoming mail and is responsible for HTTPS encryption. Its outgoing email is routed via Amazon Web Services. This is necessary, at the moment, because large email providers like Google have a tendency to mark emails as spam that come from servers with low sending volumes.

<code>backup.dlnet.org</code> is a dedicated server hosted by OVH (France). Its only purpose is to temporarily store incoming email when <code>nl1.dlnet.org</code> is down.

* The server's CPU is a hexacore Intel Xeon E5-2630 V2. There is a possibility to add an extra CPU if needed.
* There is currently 24GB of RAM installed. It is possible to add up to 384GB ram.
* The server has two 2TB SATA drives in software RAID.
* We have a 100 Mbps uplink.

Spam filtering

Spam filtering is not enabled by default. Before you enable the spam filter, consider the information about privacy below.

== Enabling the spam filter ==
In Rouncube (cloud.yourdomain.com/roundcubemail), go to "Settings" -> "Filters". Create a new filter called "Spam Block". Note that you do not need to create a new "Filter Set", but you should have at least one "Filter Set" enabled.

Fill out the form as illustrated in the image below. Under "Rules", "X-Spam-Flag" contains "YES". Under "Actions" select "Move message to", "Junk". Then click "Save".

Please keep your Inbox tidy – move all spam to the Junk folder – so that the spam filter is learning appropriately what is spam and what is not.

== Privacy policy ==
When you are using the spam filter, the filtering software will read the emails in the Inbox and Spam folders to learn what is spam and what is not. Even after you've deleted these emails, the spam filter might still have a copy of them in its storage which cannot be deleted. By using the spam filter you consent with this practice.
